Although Tango is expressed in various regions and countries, the program recognizes and contextualizes its historical and symbolic origin in the Río de la Plata region, particularly in the City of Buenos Aires. Tango is a complex cultural expression that integrates music, dance, poetry, and social identity, and its study allows historical, cultural, and emotional dimensions to be addressed. Through educational analysis and practice, the program fosters creativity, active listening, artistic expression, collaborative work, and respect for cultural diversity.

In 2009, UNESCO inscribed Tango on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, highlighting the need to promote its safeguarding, transmission, and renewal as a living cultural practice. These massive waves were driven by profound ideological, economic, and political changes occurring in Argentina and worldwide.

In the first half of the 20th century, immigrants outnumbered locals, leaving a deep cultural imprint that was later rendered invisible—first by immigrants’ desire for assimilation, and later by ideological fragmentation and massive internal migration.

Tango, however, made this cultural blending visible and integrated diverse influences such as indigenous music, Latin American baroque, Creole music, African slave music, Cuban habanera, traditional music from Spain and Italy, Klezmer music, Gypsy music, opera, and European classical music.

This harmonization gave rise to a unique aesthetic reflected in all aspects of Tango: music, dance, poetry, humor, social criticism, and dramatic expression. A disorganized mixture was transformed into a recognizable and valuable new order.

Thus, as a national language and a faithful mirror of a defining moment in Argentina’s history, Tango can also be used as a model—a replicable mental framework—making it a powerful tool for thought, analysis, and management.

Understanding how Tango integrated such diverse complexities can be particularly useful in a present marked by global tensions and challenges originating in distant places—such as Silicon Valley or Shenzhen—that generate opportunities, threats, and turbulence affecting Argentina.

In this context, Tango helps us understand who we are and appreciate ourselves more as a country.
